OOTB Valvrave III Hikaminari 1/144 Review
This week I finally got a hold of this Valvrave kit:
Now I'm gonna show you a quick review on this amazing mecha.
First I've built the kit out of the box a day ago, so now I'm gonna take off the removable parts and let you peak through of what it looks like ;)
By the way here are the size comparisons, size against a 1/144 G-Exes:
Pretty big compared to most 1/144 right?
Let see the size compared to an 1/100 MG Aile Strike:
Aha! the Aile Strike Head is much taller than the Hikaminari Head, but the overall kit is pretty much the same or taller than the Aile. Sweet! :)
Alright! Now we're moving on to the parts! yay!
I've removed the important pieces so you can see which of them can be detached/attached.
To enumerate you have 2x Armstronger, 2x Arms, 2x Legs, 2x Chain Saucer, 2x Dai Arms, 1x Head, 1x Chest, 1x Hip
We will start checking out the head first ;)
As you can see it doesn't have too many pieces. The left and right face are to be snap fitted with the neck connector, then you'll just add the effects parts and some extra small pieces on it. Be cautious with the yellow piece as sometimes it keeps falling when doing some pose. Meh! :(O
Next is the Chest. My apologies for the pic "-__- I was too lazy to unsnap the major chest piece but it includes only a PC part and straight forward shoulders and chest pieces. Also the clear effect parts.
The chest piece shoulder connector is a fix part and it's pretty sturdy, this piece will serve as a base for the Armstronger that is why they designed it to be unmovable. On the side you do get 2 pieces of Dagger which could be attached at the lower-back part of the shoulder(they sometimes fall off too). The shoulder armor(big yellow pieces) are for the Armstronger and to conceal also the main frame for the arm, it could hinder the pose ability of the arms since the front skirt part of it is fixed. The other parts are for the front and back design.
The hips.
Again, I was lazy unsnapping the major part haha. It consist of a PC and 2 hip parts, the right pieces are for the front design and the left pieces goes for the back.
Front, Side, Back view ;)
Now for the Legs.
Another lazy unsnapped part xDD, anyways the thigh parts on the top have a detailed armor of yellow and black parts, the inner frame has a few parts and it's pretty straight forward to build. The legs are much more simple to snap, the inner frame and its armor are a straight forward build also. The feet doesn't have a separate toe part, just like what Gundam kits have so it's easy to build too.
Legs Articulation. The knee and legs part connection has a different approach, unlike the Gundam knees and legs, the legs can have a 30 degree turn from the knees. Which makes it more poseable.
Maximum Leg Bend and Feet pointing.
The arms.
The major arm part is easy to build, with few PC parts and inner frame pieces snap fitted. The armor part will have a clear yellow piece on it. And you get 5pcs of hands: 2x closed, 2x hold, 1x open.
Maximum Arm bend.
Now lets do some pose of what we have so far.
Normal and Action Stance.
Split xDD.
"Paint me like one of your french girls" pose hahaha.
Alright! moving on to the armaments.
Armstronger.
Another lazy unsnap part eh!? haha anyways the major arm consist of a yellow and gray frame which can move 45 degrees on the front/back, so you won't have any problem with posing the kit. And you get to have 8x grappling fingers or tentacles xDD.
Chain Saucer and Die Arms Container.
Simple and straight forward pieces to build. The Die Arms only has an A and B part which you can snap fit easily and the Chain Saucer has 3 parts, the A and B part of the main body and the 3rd part for connecting it to the shoulder armor.
The legs can still support the weight, just basic science will do. ;)
Clear effects parts and armaments.
For this kit you get 2x sickles, 1x swipe arm effect, 1x thunder bolt feet effect. But wait there's more! :))
Since they used the same mold from the Valvrave I Hito, you get these clear parts/armaments freebies too! Yay! :DDD
Since this is a OOTB build. Here is the pic of the foil stickers. Not yet adding any of it to the kit, coz I'm thinking of repainting it.
Overall this kit is amazing and you'll enjoy building/posing it. No major loose parts/problems, snap fitting is easy, straight-forward parts are a plus ;). For a Valvrave fan this is definitely a great mecha to grab. Tip: Just be careful when doing the clear parts so they wont break.
Some farewell pose. With the Hikaminari gripping a 1/144 kit using one Armstrong, you need a lot of patience and balancing trial and errors.
Bye! Till next time ;)...
A sneak peak of my work in progress kit. The Red Comet is coming... soon~
