Tree of Savior CBT2 - English Review
Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted something on this blog. Anyways, since the OBT for STEAM is coming sooner this Spring, I'll make a review this time for an upcoming MMORPG developed by the same korean devs(well some of them maybe) IMCGAMES who've worked on and brought us RAGNAROK ONLINE way back 10+ years ago.
Introducing TREE OF SAVIOR, this time, they've upped the playstyle, classes, quests, hats, etc basically everything we've loved from RO was being upgraded. They also retained the friendly character designs and UI in game, it's more like a 2D-3Dish interface with evasion and fluid spell/character controls. I know! I know! some of you have found this gem already and played through the 1st Close Beta, this round though I got lucky and was given a key to enjoy and explore this game.
Processor: Intel Pentium Core 2 (or AMD Athlon X2).
Memory: 4 GB RAM.
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 8600 (or ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4650).
DirectX: Version 9.0c.
Network: Broadband Internet connection.
As you can see the game itself is actually pretty light on its requirements, thus gamers find it
comfortable to play with. It runs on Valve's Steam Client too which is pretty nifty who uses the
client often for other games(for this beta**).
Introduction/Guides/Useful Resources:
Character creation was simple enough to grasp on, specially if you've read the classes and some of the guides offered through the TOS website. The forum section on the site also help asserting your problems or get you started with different class techniques, stats and skill builds. I've also found TOSBASE to be one of the most helpful sites when it comes to getting map - monster info, class -skill info, class rank tree, item info and most of the data inside the game can be searched through the site, the simulators were fun and helpful too when it comes to character building, specially if you're new to the game. One last thing to always browse is the reddit page for the game.

As you can see I've created all base class characters and just made them level to a specific tree combo to explore the game deeper.
Wizard tree was fun to play with lots of AOE from Pyromancer-Elementalist combo, I suggest a Linker class is a must next time I'll create another just to make grinding easier. INT stat didn't scale well with this class(which was weird**), SPR and CON was very reliable on it though. ALC class was sassy, easy to gain money from it with potion making and gem roasting, I would make and ALC first though if I were to play again xDD.
Swordsman tree was very OP, man to man combat with bosses and mobs with big STR-CON stat. I did the HOP-CATA class at first, then COR-FEN which was bad if you did the HOP-CATA lol xDD since spear and mounted skills don't transtition well with CORSAIR or FENCER class. Well you gotta learn from experience I guess. The FENCER part was very fun to spam with, so much damage coming from it, though you may need SPR stat for spamming skill. I'd suggest BAR or HIGH class for FENCER to maximize underclass skills along with it.
Cleric tree was a little bit tiring at first(IMO**) since you can't mob very well but it was really reliable with dungeon runs and can solo on most grinding spots with its buff and heals. Once you hit MONK you'll get the fun out of it, still OP even though it was nerfed and great to be with in boss raids.
Archer tree was the only part I didn't get to explore much, I would say stat wise it's hard to figure out it's potential with classes, so you need to read guides on what your class aim is and what stats is scalable for it.
Overall every class has its potential to be great in each way, it really depends on your play style. Find which class fits you most, the game is offering a lot more in the future with additional classes and hidden quests(which was the most fun part), quests can be done solo or with a partner/team for hard and boss related ones/grinding spots, dungeons are for team work and good class combo. TOS has outranked RO which was a big part for me as it was my first MMORPG, but still this game brings out that nostalgia feel of playing RO. Most MMORPGs sell sparkling graphics, big odd worlds, quests far and wide, but this game's just so simple yet full of surprises, sticking to the story line and good deliverance of numerous classes and fun activities for both solo and party players. I'm very thankful for IMC for giving me a key to explore the game, it was really worth the time grinding, questing and meeting a lot of players who have shared their ideas and passion for the game. I'm hoping the OBT comes soon as I can't wait for it to be released, I guess we'll see you guys at the next BETA!
